Public Policy Analysis
I have taught Public Policy Analysis in both a traditional, 18-week format and an online, 6-week one. In both, I use an applied approach that relies on case studies to demonstrate theoretical concepts and assessments that develop professional skills. To teach about political feasibility analysis, for example, I have students study the Affordable Care Act and the politics surrounding the legislation. Students engage in long-term group work that simulates a professional team and develop their writing skills, visual and verbal communication, and numeric literacy.

Urban Politics
I was a teaching assistant in a 70 person Urban Politics class. In this course I helped develop assessments, held regular office hours, and graded student work. In addition, I took over the course when the instructor of record left on maternity leave. This gave me the opportunity to teach 6 lectures on topics ranging from Federal Urban Policy to Local Immigration Politics.

Immigration Policy and Politics
On several occasions I guest lectured in an Integrated Social Science (ISS) course on immigration politics. ISS courses are meant to offer a holistic social science perspective on a given subject and so in these courses I taught on a variety of topics ranging from the history of US immigration policy to the economics of immigration. As I do in each course I teach, I led students in rigorous class discussion and brought in multimedia materials to aid student learning.
